Door knocker with backplate
Central Europe, first half of 17th century
Malleable iron round bar with incisions on the ends and the centre ring, which serves as the hammer. Forged smooth ring mount. Circular backplate composed of a collared sheet, pierced and wrought with tendrils and a mascaron (god of wind?). Decorated with grooving.
